Almond chocolate speculaas biscuits

Monday 30th June 2014

I approached Alida, a prize winning food blogger, if she wanted to try out our speculaas spice mix in one of her recipes. Result: almond chocolate speculaas biscuits.

Italian Alida is the winner of the 2014 Uniform Foodies and ‘Blogger Competition’ as judged by 2 Michelin starred chef Michael Caines.

"As soon as I opened the packet the overwhelming aroma of spices filled the room with an exotic fragrance."

"I must say I have never been into cinnamon that much but I like the vandotsch speculaas spice."

Alida

Did you make the biscuits yourself?

"To make these biscuits, it was the perfect opportunity of putting my bored children at work. They loved preparing the biscuits and of course eating most of them afterwards!"

What ingredients did you use?

In addition to the vandotsch speculaas spice mix "I have used ground almonds and orange essence for a nutty and perfumed consistency and I topped them with dark chocolate and some toasted hazelnuts to make them truly addictive."

Alida, food blogger at www.mylittleitaliankitchen.com
